Nothing new under the sun: environment, food and weather

Last week wasn’t a great one for environmental news, with the announcement that carbon emissions for 2010 went up by more than anyone expected, and Oxfam’s forecast of possible food crises by 2030.

The weather here in East Anglia isn’t helping either, which was brought home to me when I went on a farm walk over the weekend. We’ve had a third of the usual rain this spring, and the crops are clearly struggling.

Was intending to pull together some of the reports on this, but found a friend has done it far better, so let me point you to this post on Byron Smith’s “nothing new under the sun” blog. Byron is working on a PhD on people’s responses to impending environmental and other crises from a theological and psychological approach, and blogs on quite a wide variety of issues in this area and beyond – well worth following.
